Abstract
Melamine - formaldehyde resins capable of producing solution of high stability and clarity are prepared by heating an aqueous formaldehyde solution, having a pH within the range 8,5 to 9, to a temperature of 75 to 90 DEG C, introducing pure melamine and condensing at 88 to 92 DEG C until a water compatibility within the range 1 : 1,5 to 1 : 0,6 is obtained, adjusting the pH to 10,3 to 10,6 and finally drying. The mol ratio of melamine to formaldehyde is from 1:2 to 1: 4,5. For the purpose of drying, an atomizer drier may be used.
