Abstract

Melamine-formaldehyde resins of uniform quality are prepared by warming aqueous formaldehyde, freed of iron and aluminium, to 60 to 90 DEG C. adjusting the previously slightly acid pH value to not more than 7,5 and adding melamine free from hydrolysis products, iron and aluminium. The mol ratio of melamine to formaldehyde which may be used is 1:1,5 to 1:6.
