Abstract
Modified, cation-active urea-formaldehyde resins are produced by condensing urea (1 mole), formaldehyde (2-3 moles) and a 1-alkyl-4-ketohexahydro-1,3,5-triazine (0,1-0,5 mole) for about 1 hour at 60 DEG -75 DEG C. under neutral to weakly alkaline conditions, and then after condensing at a pH of 3,0 to 4,5 whilst cooling to 50 DEG -40 DEG C. until the desired viscosity is obtained, neutralizing the product and cooling to room temperature. More urea may be added before or after the neutralization.
