Abstract

The invention comprises hydrazine salts of acids of the formula Ar. 0. (CH2)n COOH where n = 1, 2 or 3 and Ar represents a p-chlorophenyl radical which may optionally be further substituted by alkyl groups and/or chlorine atoms, and a process for their preparation by reacting the acid with hydrazine hydrate. Examples describe the preparation of salts of 4-chloro, 2, 4-dichloro, 2, 4, 5,trichloro, 2, 4, 6-trichloro and 2-methyl-4-chloro-phenoxy acetic acid and 2, 4-dichlorophenoxy butyric acid.ALSO:A phytocidal composition comprises a hydrazine salt of Ar O (CH2)n COOH, where n is 1, 2 or 3 and Ar represents a pchlorophenyl radical which may optionally be further substituted by alkyl groups and/or chlorine atoms, together with an inert diluent or carrier. Examples describe the preparation of aqueous suspensions (active compound, hydrolysel polyvinyl alcohol and bentonite), a jelly for injecting from a grease gun (active compound, starch, glycerin, sodium pentachlorophenate and water) and powders (active compound, wetting and dispersing agents and calcium silicate) which may be dissolved in water.
