856,358. Hand propelled vehicles. STRADDEN, R. S. April 2, 1959, No. 11203/59. Classes 136(2) and 136(3). A play hand car has above a platform 5 a rocker 24 pivoted to and swinging longitudinally about a sleeve 21 with a post 26 fixed at one end to the rocker and connected at the other to a sleeve 32 rotatable about a shaft 15 which is capable of swinging laterally and vertically of the platform 5; the shaft being pivoted to a crank 11 on a drive axle 6 at one end of the platform and extending freely at the other through a yoke 17 fixed to an axle 8 pivoted for steering at 18. The car is propelled by oscillating the rocker and is steered by tilting the rocker about the pivot 22, thereby tilting the shaft 15 laterally about its pivot 13 and causing its front end to turn the yoke 17 about the pivot 18. The lower end of the post 26 receives a connecting pin 27 with a key 29 projecting through a lateral groove 28 to permit slight oscillation of the post relative to the sleeve 32.
