A toy vehicle comprises a clockwork propelling mechanism which, by means of a crank 9 and rod members 10, 21, causes a driver figure to oscillate and the vehicle to be steered from side to side. A pivoted frictional device Fig. 6 (not shown) to which the rods 10, 21 are connected, has an upwardly bent finger member 14 loosely engaging the inside of the figure which is pivotally secured to the. steering wheel shaft. The direction of travel of the vehicle may be made the same as or opposite to the movement of the driver's figure according to the position of the rod 21 on the front wheel axle carrier 28. The frictional device enables a lug 24 to be set so that the toy describes a main circular path which is modified by the mechanism control.
