Abstract
856,340. Removing metal by electro-erosion. SPARCATRON Ltd. Jan. 23, 1958 [Nov. 27, 1956], No. 36239/56. Class 83 (4). An electrode for an electro-erosion machine comprises two or more electrode components 1, 2, 6 separated from each other by an oblique layer 3, 5 of insulating material. The electrode is mounted for rotation about an axis 4 and each component, which may be of brass, is connected through a rectifier 14, 15, 16 to a different phase of an alternating current supply. An electrolytic or dielectric bathing fluid is used during erosion. In other embodiments the electrode has two components only, Figs. 1, 2 (not shown), and is formed by machining a sandwich consisting of two brass discs with an intervening layer of insulating material, or the electrode may be of generally rectangular shape, Fig. 4 (not shown), and is oscillated during erosion. Specifications 637,872 and 756,727 are referred to.
