Abstract
855,745. Transistor amplifying circuits. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Sept. 16, 1959 [Sept. 30, 1958], No. 31190/58. Class 40(6). A bias stabilizing circuit for a class B push-pull transistor amplifier comprises a resistor 10 connected in series with network 11 - 14 across the power supply. Network 11 - 14 comprises a solid state rectifier 11 in series with a resistor 12, the pair being shunted by a resistive potentiometer 13, 14 of relatively high value. The rectifier 11 is poled so as to present a low resistance to the flow of current from the supply and the resistor 12, which is of relatively low value, is connected between the emitters of the transistors and earth. The centre tap of the input transformer secondary is returned to the tap on potentiometer 13, 14. The arrangement is such that when the supply voltage falls, the drop in base potential is compensated by a corresponding drop in emitter potential due to the non-linear resistance characteristics of the rectifier 11.
