855,407. Automatic voltage control systems. CKD NODRANY NARODNI PODNIK. Feb. 24, 1958, No. 5966/58. Class 38 (4). The output voltage and current of an electromechanical voltage regulator are controlled to provide a " knee-curve " characteristic. The output voltage of a rectifier 5 is automatically controlled by a regulating transformer 2 which is adjusted by a servomotor 3 energized by a magnetic amplifier 4. One control winding 16 of the amplifier 4 is energized by the output voltage of the rectifier 5 and the other winding 19 is energized by a reference source 6. Current limiting is effected by rectifying at 12 the output of a current transformer 9 in series with the A.C. input to the rectifier 5, and applying a selected portion of the current signal via a rectifier 15 across the control winding 16. The rectifier 15 is blocked by the voltage control signal until the current signal rises above this and the system is then controlled to maintain a constant current.
