Abstract

855,160. Decorative articies. FIELD, SONS & CO. Ltd., and WEAR, E. Jan. 5, 1959 [May 3, 1958], No. 14193/58. Class 93. Also in Group XVII] A carboard article, to simulate a Christmas cracker and which may be used for decoration or as a container, comprises four relatively long, narrow wall panels 5, 6, 7, 8 interhinged at their long sides and provided with transverse hinge lines 11, 12, 13, 17, 18, 19 and diagonal hinge lines 14, 15 to enable parts of the panels to be folded inwardly to give the appearance of a Christmas cracker. To erect the article from the blank shown in Fig. 2 a strip 9 is connected to the panel 5 to form a tube, the ends of panels 5, 7 are pressed together, Fig. 4, by folding the panels 6, 8 inwardly about the hinge lines 14, 15, 16. The panels 5, 7 are again pressed together down hinge lines 11, 13 and then the ends of the panels 6, 8 are pressed outwardly to form the article shown in Fig. 7. In a modification, Fig. 10, the container has a closure flap 20 hinged to the panel 5 and which closes an aperture in the panel 8. Flaps 26, hinged to the panel 8, are inturned to form end closures for the container. An apertured tab 10 may be provided on one of the panels to facilitate suspension of the article from a hook or cord.
