Abstract
853,875. Flow-boxes of paper-making machines. DOMINION ENGINEERING WORKS Ltd. June 14, 1957, No. 18868/57. Class 96. Pulp supply to a paper-making machine, from a pipe 5 branches at 6 to flow, at opposite sides of the machine into the broad ends of oppositely directed flow conduits 11, 12, e.g. each made up of a succession of truncated cones 18, 19, 20, so as to give approximately the parabolic form needed for constant speed of flow through the discharge slots 13 which have flanges for lifting and securing the conduits 11, 12 to the bases of two divergent approach channels which supply a mixing chamber at the lower end of a main decelerating, divergent conduit which delivers the pulp to the inlet of the flow-box at which there is a flow-evener roll. The narrow end of each conduit 11, 12 is connected at 14, 15 to the broad end of the opposite conduit and may drain to the wire pit through valves 16, 17 and pipes 16a, 17a. In modifications there may be two or more pairs of crossflow distribution chambers.
