Abstract
853,796. Change-speed gearing. ROTARY HOES Ltd. Sept. 10, 1958 [Sept. 20, 1957], No. 29597/57. Class 80 (2). The drive transmission for a rotary cultivator comprises a longitudinal input shaft 11 and a transverse output shaft 3, with a layshaft 8 parallel to the input shaft and connected to it by interchangeable pick-off pinions 9, 10 to which access may be had through an opening 13, normally closed by a cover, in the gear casing 12. The final drive between shafts 8, 3 is by bevel pinions 6, 7, the latter being engageable by a dog-clutch 14 on layshaft 8. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the final drive is through worm gearing and the input includes an additional stage in which a compound pinion on the input shaft is engageable with either of two pinions on an auxiliary shaft parallel to the layshaft. In a further embodiment, Fig. 4 (not shown), the pick-off pinions are compound.
