Abstract

935,417. Toothed gearing. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. May 11, 1962 [May 23, 1961], No. 18127/62. Class 80 (1). A control system for selectively and simultaneously positioning each of a pair of control shafts 2, 3 in response to movement of a single control lever 1 comprises concentric shafts 13, 4, the inner shaft 13 having a cylindrical rack 15 at one end and a planar rack at the other end whereby axial movement of shaft 13 is transmitted through gearing 10<SP>1</SP>, 10 to control shaft 3. Rotational movement of shaft 4 is transmitted through bevel gearing 8 to control shaft 2. The control lever 1 is pivotally mounted on a transverse axis 17 in a housing 5 which is integral with the shaft 4, a spur gear 16 being attached to the end of the lever 1 and meshing the cylindrical rack 15. The control lever 1 may be moved in any direction, the axial component of the movement causing movement of control shaft 3 and the transverse component of the movement effecting movement of control shaft 2.
