Abstract
897,066. Toothed gearing. ZAHNRAEDERFABRIK RENK A.G. June 1, 1959 [June 9, 1958], No. 18525/59. Class 80 (1). In a double helical double reduction gearing having a divided power transmission path, coaxial driving and driven gears 1, 4, respectively, mesh with several (three shown) spaced countershaft gear pairs 2, 3 and 2<SP>1</SP>, 3<SP>1</SP> mounted in a housing 12, the gears of each pair being non-rotatably connected, e.g. through splines or elastic couplings 5, or 6, so as to permit angular and axial displacement of their axes, and the driving driven gears are positively located radially merely by engaging the countershaft gear pairs. As shown, one countershaft pair 2<SP>1</SP>, 3<SP>1</SP> is axially located by thrust bearings 15, and the driving and driven gears 1, 4 are connected to their shafts through splined couplings 7, 8, whereby meshing engagement locates the gears 1, 4 both radially and axially. In Fig. 3, not shown, the thrust bearings 15 are omitted and the driving and driven gears are located axially by flexible shafts which replace the couplings 7 and 8. The spline couplings 6 of all but one of the countershaft gear-pairs are adjustably pinned on one of the gear-pairs to accommodate mesh.
