Abstract
799,298. Breaking-pieces. MASSEY-HARRIS-FERGUSON, Inc. March 9, 1955 [March 9, 1954], No. 6915/55. Class 80 (4). An internally splined sleeve 30, coupling input and output shafts 25, 27 behind a tractor transmission, has a peripheral groove 35 at which the sleeve shears on excessive torque load, as when operating in low-low of the main three-speed gear and a following auxiliary planet gear. The broken parts remain in situ and can be removed with the shaft 25 after removing a split cotter 36 to permit rearward disengaging movement of the shaft 25.
