Abstract

853,114. Cutting by fusion. SJOSTEDT, H. I. Aug. 5, 1958, No. 25102/58. Class 83 (4). A flame-cutting machine or the like comprises a carriage 1 supporting on one side thereof a blow torch 4 or the like and having a pair of travelling wheels 2, 3 connected through sun and planet gearing 6 with a speed governor 5. The latter may be a reversible adjustable-speed motor which may be used to propel the carriage or it may be a centrifugal governor with a brake ; in the latter case the carriage may be propelled manually. This arrangement is stated to produce constant speed of the cutting torch. In another embodiment, Fig. 4 (not shown), the sun and planet gears are spur-gears and in a further embodiment, Fig. 3 (not shown), the governor 5 drives the planet carrier whilst the wheels 2, 3 are driven from the sun-gears through further spur-gear trains.
