Abstract
852,959. Vehicles with closable apertures in roof. TRAUGOTT GOLDE & CO. G.m.b.H., H. July 29, 1957 [Aug. 9, 1956], No. 24012/57. Class 108(1). [Also in Group XXV] The front of a sliding roof of a vehicle is provided with a cap 2 which is pivotally connected to a brace 1 which slides by means of rollers 3 in guides on the roof frame and is fitted with means for locking the roof in the closed position, which locking means are interconnected with the cap 2 by a lever system so that on release of the locking means the cap will pivot away from the brace and vice versa. The locking means preferably comprises a hook 6 connected to a cam disc 5 operated by a handle 4, the cam disc, when turned to release. the hook 6, moving outwardly two rods 7 and 8 connected to lever systems 9, 10, respectively, which move the cap 2. During this release movement a spring may be loaded to reduce the power required for locking the roof. The lever systems 9, 10, Fig. 3, are identical and each comprises a crank lever 11, of which one leg 12 is connected to the corresponding rod 7 or 8 and the other leg 13 is forked and provided with a bushing 14, Fig. 4, the bore of which is of double frusto-conical shape and in which is disposed a pin 21 connected by a support 19 'to the cap 2. The crank lever 11 is supported on a lever 16 which is pivoted to the lever 11 and to the brace 1 so that a cap 2 of different camber may be used. Forked cantilever brackets 22, 23, Figs. 1 and 7, are fitted on the brace 1 and carry axles 26, 27, respectively, provided with rods 24, 25 for supporting brackets 28, 29 which are secured to the cap 2 and which slide on the rods 24, 25 against the action of springs 30, 31. Any shrinking &c. of the roof covering is thus provided for, and the consequential movement of the pins 21 in the bushings 14 due to this, or to the pivotal movement of the cap 2 with respect to the brace 1 is accommodated by the shape of the bushings.
