Abstract

852,571. Hasp fastenings. CHENEY & SON Ltd., C. W., and CHENEY, C. W. Oct. 2, 1957 [July 19, 1956], No. 22334/57. Class 44. In a hasp member of the kind comprising an approximately U-shaped sheet metal pressing between the opposite alike flanges 9, 10 of which a flexible strap 8 or flap related to the bag is received and secured, the means for securing the hasp member to the flexible strap or flap comprises an integral clinching prong 13 on the flange 9 directed inwardly towards the other flange, the prong being.formed as a continuation of its flange and having its root cranked so as to inset it relative the boundary rim of its flange, and the other flange 10 having a slot 14 through which the prong can pass for clinching it against the exterior of the slotted flange. The flange 10 has a recess to receive the prong so that it lies flush with the back surface of the flange.
