270,111. Cheney, C. W. June 17, 1926. Hasp fastenings, for bags, attache cases, trunks, and like articles comprising a hasp a hinged to a carrying plate c, are provided with a U-shaped metal stamping f rigidly secured to the plate c and provided on one or both of its limbs f<2>, f<3> with prongs f4 for attaching the hasp to the lid or flap x. The edge of the lid or flap x fits snugly in the bend f<5> of the U-shape member and causes the hasp to assume a position perpendicular to the edge. The prongs f<4> penetrate the fabric and lie against the opposite limb of the member f.
