Abstract

852,055. Electromagnetic relays. SIEMENS & HALSKE A.G. April 17, 1959 [May 23, 1958], No. 13166/59. Class 38 (5). A relay with contact devices comprising magnetic contact springs in sealed glass tubes, has the ends of the springs extending from the tubes embedded in moulded insulating blocks with portions of the spring ends projecting therefrom forming terminals, so that any bending stresses on the springs during mounting or soldering are absorbed by the block without stressing the glass tubes. In Fig. 1 two layers 1, 2 of contact devices surrounded by a coil 3 have the spring ends 4 embedded in moulded insulating blocks 5. As shown in Fig. 4 flux return members 6, 7 may also have their ends embedded in such blocks 5 with insulation 8 to space apart the ends 4 and members 6, 7 during the moulding. The ends of the flux return members may alternatively be fixed to the faces of the blocks 5 (Figs. 2 and 3, not shown) and the blocks may be common to a set of relays which also have common flux return members (Fig. 5, not shown).
