Abstract
995,432. Electromagnetic relays. HAGAN CONTROLS Ltd. Jan. 15, 1962 [Jan. 27, 1961], No. 1426/62a Heading H2B. In a relay having at least one sealed magnetic contact device surrounded by a coil, the contact device is enclosed by a non-ferromagnetic thermal shunt which serves to equalize the temperatures at the two thermocouple junctions formed by the connections between the terminals of the device and the supply leads. As shown, four sealed contact devices 10 . . . 13 are mounted in insulation 18, and the inner two are enclosed by a slotted copper, copper alloy, or silver tube 14 which conforms to the shape of the coil and in addition to equalizing the temperatures of the junctions 20- . . . V23 and 20a . . . 23a, also acts as an electrostatic screen. The contact reeds are of nickel-iron and the contact surfaces are gold-coated.
