851,435. Roller briquetting presses. KLOCKNER - HUMBOLDT - DEUTZ A.G. April 22, 1959 [April 24, 1958], No. 13696/59. Class 87(2). A roller briquetting press, the rollers 1 and 2 of which consist of drums 11, 12 and segments 15 bolted to the drums and on which moulding depressions 16 are arranged staggered in relation to one another when seen in the axial direction of the rollers (transverse row), has the segments so arranged that a narrow wavy gap 29 remains between them which substantially follows the outlines of the moulding depressions arranged in a transverse row. The centre lines of the segments are parallel but form a small angle a with surface lines running parallel to the axis. Grooves 14 are machined in the cylindrical surface of each drum at an angle to the axis which is equal to the angle a, bearing faces 22, 23 being machined each side of a groove 14, Fig. 9, whereby the positions of the segments are determined. Each segment 15 has projections 17, 18 at its ends by which it is fastened to the drum by screws 19, 20. The gaps between the segments may be filled with metal of similar coefficient of expansion to that of the segments e.g. copper.
