Abstract

Number of exchangeable roll sections are mounted on each of two parallel shafts. On one shaft at least one of the sections has radial annular projection which narrows to a peak, whilst on the other shaft is a section with a radial annular outwards-facing recess tapering to a plane inner surface and providing a forming and bearing surface for metal strip. Adjacent points on the strip make contact with the peak of the one section and the angle where the taper of the other section meets the plane inner surface.
