Abstract
851,107. Assembling force fits; jointing. BISSELL A.G. July 14, 1959 [July 21, 1958], No. 24132/59. Class 83 (4). [Also in Groups XXIII and XXVIII] A permanent joint between tubular sections 5, Fig. 3, of a carpet sweeper handle, comprises a dowel 7 fixedly secured and projecting from one end of a section to telescopicallyreceive an adjacent section and carrying a resilient washer 13, Fig. 5, with radial prongs 15 which deflect to permit ready initial assembly and then open to bite into the inner face of each section and prevent subsequent removal. The washer 13 is held by a screw 14 on the end face of the dowel 7 which is bevelled at 12 to permit deflection of the prongs 15. The section 5 and dowel 7 have flats 6, 9 to prevent relative rotation.
