Abstract
850,095. Soot-blowers. REISS ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. Oct. 15, 1958 [Nov. 5, 1957], No. 34455/57. Class 99(2). A number of blowers 2 for blowing compressed air and/or steam through the overhead flue of a gas producer or furnace are connected to a conduit arranged outside the flue for supplying the compressed air and/or steam to the blowers and project into the flue through a brick lining 12 of a wall 1 of the flue. As shown, each blower has a shank 3 extending through and welded to the flange 6 of a removable tubular wall 5 filled with plastic fire cement 11, the flange being secured by bolts 15 to the flange 14 of a sleeve 13 branching from the wall 1. In a modification, the shank of the blower is permanently fixed to the wall.
