Abstract

The chimney in which the lining is fitted of conventional construction (1) and has connections at each floor level to heating units (4). The lining (7) is preferably made of stainless steel, but may also consist of concrete or other similar materials. The bottom end of the lining is tapered in the form of a truncated cone. Where the flue from a heating unit meets the vertical part of the lining the amount the horizontal protrudes into the vertical is kept to a minimum to maintain a smooth gas flow. The lining is located centrally in the chimney by means of lugs and the air passing in the interspace cools the gases.
