Abstract

1385701 Closed solid-fuel stoves J C MACKAY 6 April 1972 [6 Jan 1971] 626/71 Heading F4W A closed solid-fuel stove comprises a grate 12, a boiler 15 defining a central combustion products flow passage 17 and supported by four tubes 9c, 9d, a hopper 18 for solid fuel supported by the boiler 15 within the passage 17 or collinear with the sides thereof and an outer casing 5, 6 defining with the boiler 15 a further combustion products flow passage 21, 22. Glass plates 31 surround the combustion zone and radiation therefrom is controlled by sets of simultaneously operable shutters 32 which may be automatically controlled. A reciprocating, rocking or screw grate is provided. Primary air is introduced through a disc valve, and secondary air is fed through two tubes 9d to an outlet channel 14 beneath the boiler 15. Cold water inlet pipes to the boiler 15 are passed through the tubes 9c. The grate 12 may be subdivided into two portions with combustion products from one portion being recycled to the other portion.
