Abstract
849,360. Electric measuring systems. VYZKUMNY A ZKUSEBNI LETECKY USTAV. March 13, 1959 [March 24, 1958], No. 8771/59. Class 40 (1). A torque meter comprises two ferromagnetic bodies 11, 12, Fig. 1, connected together and between two shafts 1, 6 which transmit the load to be measured, the bodies 11, 12 being surrounded by series-connected toroidal exciting windings 31, 32 wound in opposition and supplied with A.C. through brushes 61, 62 and slip rings 51, 52. The bodies 11, 12 are journalled in bearings 7 in a housing 8 which supports two pick-up coils 21, 22 which are connected, as shown in Fig. 2, in series with the two secondary windings 41, 42 of a transformer 40. The windings 41, 42 are connected in aiding series, outputs from the pick-up coils due to deformation of the bodies by an applied torque opposing one another in the series circuit, while spurious signals due to stray fields affect the outputs of windings 41, 42 equally. Indication is provided by a meter 15 connected between a potentiometer 13 interposed between the windings 41, 42, and a second potentiometer 14 connected between two diodes 10, the other electrodes of which are connected to the pick-up coils 21, 22.
