In a magnetostrictive torsional transducer, a tubular ferromagnetic core 1 to which the torsional strain is applied has a coaxial pick-up coil 2, a toroidal energizing coil 3, and a toroidal auxiliary coil 4 to supply a voltage for biasing diodes 5 in the measuring circuit by direct induction from the energizing coil 3 to the linear portion of their characteristic. Potentiometer 6 is adjusted to give zero indication on meter 8 when the transducer is unstrained.
