A clamp and thimble device is formed of two similar halves A, B, each having an eye part with a clamping plate at one end and being connectable together, preferably by bolts C and nuts D in shaped recesses 1 in the clamping plates, the eye parts being provided respectively with a lug 3 and recess 4 to centre the ends A<11>, B<11> and the eye parts having a V-shaped groove for the cable connecting with an undulating groove through the clamping plates.
