Abstract
847,553. Rigid laminates; compound paper board. SVENSKA CELLULOSA A.B. July 4, 1958 [July 5, 1957], No. 21572/58. Classes 96 and 140. [Also in Group XVI] Fibre boards are surfaced by superposing on and hot-pressing with the wet pulp sheet one or more thin sheets of paper or cloth impregnated or coated with a drying oil, and embossing the sheet, as by a patterned press platen or by a textile or wire cloth combined with a metal foil or thin sheet used as the platen. The cloth is preferably stiffened and bound to the foil &c. by impregnation with a thermoset resin. The drying oil may be linseed, china wood, soya or tall oil, or a polymerizable material such as a castor oil alkyd resin, and may be combined with a melamine-aldehyde, urea-aldehyde or like resin to assist binding of the sheet or sheets to the board substrate. The sheets may be coloured or printed with a pattern.
