Abstract

1477853 Coated paper BILLINGSFORS BRUKS AB 20 May 1974 [21 May 1973] 22344/74 Heading B2E [Also in Divisions B5 and D2] A coated, impregnated paper for use in laminate manufacture is prepared by (a) forming a cellulosic web on a paper making machine; (b) impregnating the web on machine prior to final drying with an aqueous solution or dispersion of a resin in an amount of at least 15% by wt. resin solids based on the wt. of web and resin; (c) drying the impregnated web; and (d) coating the dried impregnated web with a binder. The resin may comprise an urea- or melamine-formaldehyde, polyvinyl chloride, acrylic, epoxy, polyester, polyurethane, or phenoplastic resin. The binder may comprise an acrylic or styrene-butadiene latex, urea- or melamine resin, a UV-curing or catalyst-curing polyester, or a binder of the nitrocellulose or acid-curing types, and may be used together with a colouring agent e.g. a pigment. The paper may be machine-glazed.
