Abstract

847,319. Wet presses of paper-making machines &C. STIFTELSEN PAPPENSBRUKENS FORSKNINGSINSTITUT. July 17, 1958 [July 17, 1957], No. 23017/58. Class 96. [Also in Group XIII] A wet paper web 5 &c. which may be carried by a wet press felt 6 passes through a wet press 3, 4 together with a travelling belt 1, perforations in which take up water expressed at the nip of the rolls 3, 4 and throw it off by centrifugal force as the belt passes about a roll 9 after it has left the press substantially tangentially to both rolls 3, 4 and has diverged from the web &c. 5. Troughs 10 and 13 collect water which leaves the belt 1. The belt may be of rubber, plastic, or of open-mesh fabric, the perforations being large enough to allow the water to leave readily. It may be further dried before returning to the nip of the wet press.
