846,577. Cork-asbestos-elastomer sheeting. VICTOR MANUFACTURING & GASKET CO. May 30, 1957, No. 17233/57. Class 96. [Also in Group XXVI] In making cork-asbestos-elastomer sheeting for gaskets, virgin and scrap asbestos fibres, cork ground to a minimum particle size of 50 mesh I.M.M., a softener such as sodium hexametaphosphate, curative material including a wetting agent, e.g. a mixture of zinc oxide, sulphur, phenyl beta-naphthylamine, carbon black, bentonite, thiocarbanilide and an aralkyl polyether alcohol; a neoprene or polyacrylate elastomer latex containing 35% by weight of solids, dilute 5% acetic acid, a dispersing agent such as an aqueous solution of a sodium alkyl aryl sulphonate, alum and sufficient water to cause complete coagulation of the latex on the fibres, are beaten to form a pulp, which is diluted with water, e.g. to contain 1 % of undissolved solids, sheeted on a wet-lap cylinder paper-making machine, air-dried and finally oven-dried.
