Abstract

932,320. Coated wire fabric; paper. BUCKMAN LABORATORIES Inc. Feb. 20, 1962 [July 3, 1961], No. 6558/62. Classes 96 and 140. [Also in Group XVIII] A composition suitable for use as a protecting agent for a metal wire cloth, such as those used in Fourdrinier machines for paper-making, comprises 2-amino-ethanol and an alkali metal salt of 2-mercaptobenzothiazole. There may also be added (A) a water-soluble salt of cyanodithioimidocarbonic acid, (B) a diaminoalkane with not more than 6 carbon atoms and the amino groups on adjacent carbon atoms, the ratio of B to A being 1: 1.5, and (C) a watersoluble salt of an N-monoalkyl substituted dithiocarbamic acid, with the alkyl radical having less than 4 carbon atoms. This composition is included in the furnish for paper production so that a film is formed on the surface of the strands of the Fourdrinier wire cloth thereby reducing mechanical and chemical wear.
