Abstract
846,383. Filing papers. ZIPPEL, G. A. May 31, 1956, No. 16919/56. Addition to 751,152. Class 146(1). A folder or like document holder is capable of engaging one or more thin edge portions of a rail and of supporting documents in a plane perpendicular to the rail, a recess in an edge of the holder receiving the thin edge portions of the rail, the recess being of such a shape that when the folder is in full engagement with the rail the edges of the recess touch the thin edge portions at two separate points and the folder cannot be disengaged solely by linear movement in its own plane but can be disengaged by rotation through a small angle in its own plane followed by linear movement. As shown in Fig. 1, the rail 14 is of inverted T-shape in cross-section, the flanges of the T fitting into recesses in the upper edges of side walls 19, 20 of a folder having its closed end 18 downwards. The recesses are strengthened by plates 21 and form two noses 12, 13 on each side wall which engage over the flanges of the rail. To unhook the folder it is first moved slightly to the left from the Fig. 1, position to disengage the nose 12 from the rail, then rotated through a small angle in an anti-clockwise direction, Fig. 2, and finally moved to the right to disengage the nose 13 from the rail. In modifications the recesses and rail have different shapes. In Fig. 9 a T-shaped projection 60 in each recess is engaged in a slotted tubular rail 59. In Fig. 12 the recesses are of the same shape as those of Fig. 1 but are formed in those edges of the side walls which are adjacent to the folded edge of the folder. The recesses engage a T-shaped rail 114 mounted in a drawer and the folder rests at its other end on a further rail 117 also mounted in the drawer.
