Classes 16 and 146(1) Means for filing microfilm strips comprise a horizontal supporting structure 3, a fastening member 8 secured thereto and a plurality of elongated sheets 11 or 12 adapted each to engage the fastening member 8 at one end so as to lie side-by-side substantially parallel each with a lower edge 17 resting on the structure and each sheet having at its other end an extension or flap 18 or 21 contiguous therewith and which may be swung about a substantially vertical fold line 19 or 22 whereby the flap may retain a microfilm strip in position against the strip 11 or 12 or indicate that a film has been removed when it projects from the sheet as at 27. The supporting structure may be a shelf of a cabinet or as shown, a drawer 3 sliding in a cabinet 1, the one side 5 of the drawer being shallow to allow access to the flaps. A horizontal rod 8 forming the fastening member is secured at the opposite side 6 between blocks 7 and is engaged by notches 9 or 10 in the sheets 11 or 12. The notches are formed in turned back portions 20 and are L-shaped. Spring clamps 26 on the rod 8 may hold the sheets close. The sheets 11 or 12 may be separated by partitions 24 having similar notches. The sheet 11 is formed as a pocket folded along its lower edge 17, only one side having the extension flap 18. Indexing. On the back face of each flap 18, 21 a reference is inscribed relating to the microfilm held in position thereby, the unfolded flap then indicating the position at which the film strip is to be replaced.
