792,142. Filing papers; indexing. BRINKMANN TO BROXTEN, R. March 6, 1956 [March 12, 1955], No. 7072/56. Classes 16 and 146(1) , A suspension filing system comprises a suspension bar having a flat top 1 transverse to an extension strip 2 extending over the greater portion of the bar to receive documents or file folders, as on hooks 3, the flat top having bent over ends 4 having the lower edge 5 parallel to the flat top 1 and at least one side edge projecting beyond a plane parallel to the plane of the strip 2 and passing through the adjoining longitudinal edge 8 of the bar top 1. The ends 4 may have two corners 7 so that no tilting is possible or, where documents are to one side and/or at one end only of the strip 2, only one corner as in Fig. 6, may be projecting, the two sides being parallel. In this case, the projecting sides at the two ends may be on the same or opposite sides of the strip 2. The inner faces 16 of the ends 4 may be oblique to allow inclined positions in the rails 17. Indexing. A dovetail groove 10 in the top bar 1 is closed at both ends 9 and receives index carriers 11 and/or a transparent strip 12 which may project through a slot in the carrier 11 or be held by studs 18, the strip being displaceable to .variable lengths. Bridge type sliders 13 may also be used, the legs 14 of which have turned out edges 15 to slide in the groove 10. The walls of the groove 10 may be serrated to hold the sliders 13 in position.
