819,193. Filing papers; indexing. JONES, W. N. July 30, 1957 [Aug. 6, 1956], No. 24184/57. Classes 16 and 146(1) A suspension bar 1 for a filing system of folders 12 comprises four spaced parallel walls 5, 6, 7, 8 joined together to form two outer grooves 2 downwardly opening and a shorter inner groove 3 upwardly opening, each outer wall 5, 8 having an inwardly directed flange 9 such that each groove 2 is adapted to receive the folded over upper edge of a folder 12, the flap 11 of the folder resting an the flange 9. The bar is preferably made from a sheet metal strip 4 bent longitudinally to the required M shape, and the bars are provided with notches 14 for sliding on the supporting members 13 of a filing cabinet drawer. Each bar 1 has one folded edge from two adjacent folders 12 to form a concertina arrangement. The channel 3 is used to hold an index holder 15 comprising an angled part 16 to receive a card 19 and a mounting part 17 to be wedged between the walls 6, 7, the card 19 being held between the upper edge 20 of part 17 and a turned over edge 18, preferably with a strip 21 of glass or clear plastic of segmental cross-section to act as a magnifying strip. Projections on the groove 3, or other means, may position the holder 15.
