A suspension filing or record system in which the folders or record cards are suspended by bars on their upper edges from a pair of parallel rails, has adjacent folders or cards interconnected by a detachable clip of inverted U-shape which passes through a hole in one folder or card and either hooks over the top of another folder or card or passes through a hole in it which registers with the hole in the first. As shown, a folder comprises leaves 1, 2 suspended by bars 3, 6 having hooked ends 4 (not shown), 7 for engagement with parallel rails. Each bar 3 comprises a metal strip bent over to engage and grip the upper edge of leaf 1. Each bar 6 comprises a metal strip having a body 8 in contact with the upper edge of leaf 2 and a part 9 bent rearwardly, the part 9 having tongues 10 bent forwardly out of the body 8. The bar 6 is secured to the leaf 2 by upwardly extending tongues 11 in the body 8 which engage slits therein so that the edge of leaf 2 lies under the tongues 10. The part 9 with tongues 10 forms a surface for a label 12 secured by a transparent sheath 13 slid over the edges thereof. A hole 14 centrally of the body 8 registers with a slightly larger opening 15 in the leaf 2, the hole 14 lying at about the same height as the top of the bar 3 so that adjacent folders are connected together by a U-shaped clip hooked through the holes 14, 15 of one folder and over the top of the bar 3 of the next folder, one leg of the clip 16 being longer to facilitate insertion through the holes. More than one clip may be used if desired. The clip may be used to pass through a hole in an extension of one leaf of a folder having identical suspension bars, the clip being hooked over the next suspension bar. In a construction of record cards, which are suspended by bars having tongues passing through slots therein, each bar has two holes and adjacent cards are interconnected by a clip 16 passing through two registering holes and a third card may be interlinked by using the other hole of the middle card for a second clip.
