Abstract

875,777. Filing papers. AMUNDSEN, T. Dec. 18, 1957 [Dec. 20, 1956], No. 39407/57. Class 146(1). A card index is of the kind in which several cards 20 can be secured in register by suspending them near their upper edges from a suspension member 1 provided with pegs 11 and means for suspending the member in a file drawer or compartment. As shown, the suspension member 1 is a plate 1 of metal or plastic, the top of the plate being bent at 90 degrees to form a cover part 2 having projecting ends 3 for engagement with suspension rails. The plate 1 has clamps 4 pressed out of the plate 1 and pressed out legs 5. A wrapper 6 has apertures 7 for engagement with the clamps 4 which thereby suspend the wrapper. A rail 10 having pegs 11 for registering the cards 20 is. inserted in the clamps 4 while a resilient strip 14 having apertures 15 secures the cards on the pegs. The strip 14 is secured to the lugs 5 by a hinge pin 16, while the opposite end has a locking device 17 for engagement with the rail 10. The strip 14 may be replaced by a resilient strip held in place by a locking arrangement at the ends of the row of pegs, e.g., by cut-away parts at the free ends of the pegs.
