Abstract
751,152. Filing papers. ZIPPEL, G. A. April 23, 1954 [April 24 1953] No. 11862/54. Classes 16 and 146(1) A 'suspension filing system for folders, drawings or the like, which are suspended back upwards from a single supporting rail 14 has each folder 1 formed or provided with a suspension fitting 2 comprising a recess 4 open at the top with two opposed noses 12, 13 adapted to engage on the horizontal arms of the rail 14 which is preferably of inverted T-shape, the recess having two lateral limiting edges 15. 16 and a lower edge 17 connecting them and being wider and deeper than the width and depth of the supporting rail. As shown, the limiting edges 16 and 17 are oblique and the nose 12 is nearer the centre of gravity line than the nose 13 so that the folder may be pulled forward as in Fig. 2 and will be in equilibrium in such position and may be utilized to show position of a file which has been removed from one side thereof. The fitting 2 may be secured to the folder 1 as shown, or may be of sheet metal and provided with downwardly projecting tongues to be passed through the top of a folder and bent over to secure it in position. In an alternative construction, the fitting comprises a long strip which is inserted into a doubled over strip of cardboard or the like, with a cut-out at the position of the recess, a drawing or the like being secured to the cardboard as by glue. A number of different shape rails 14 are described, such as H, cruciform and angular and in each the horizontal arms may be squared off upwardly as at 18, 19 to assist sliding of the noses 12, 13 therealong. The rails 14 may be secured at each end to rails slidable horizontally into and out of a filing cabinet so that folders, which lie parallel with the sliding rails, can be easily examined. Tabs. A label holder of celluloid or like transparent material for use on the folder 1 so that a label can be read with the folder in the vertical and horizontal directions, when on a folder in the hanging position comprises a vertical arm 34 and resilient tongue 35 passing either side of the folder, an extension 39 to be passed through a slot 40 in the folder and bent over, and a triangular shaped portion having a horizontal surface 36 and an oblique surface 37 to receive an angular shaped paper label which can be read through either surface 36 or 37.
