Abstract

1,058,735. Filing papers. C. E. GRUNDELL. Oct. 2, 1964 [Oct. 3, 1963], No. 40334/64. Heading B6E. A device which may constitute the back of a file or may be employed in suspension files comprises a bar 1 with a T-shaped slot 4 in which is received the folded part 3 of a member 2 to which papers may be attached or which may form part of a pocket to receive papers. The member 2 is formed of relatively stiff material such as cardboard or a plastic and has a flat upper surface upon which information is marked either directly or by attaching slips (19) or headed pins (17, Fig. 9). The bar 1 is preferably made of transparent plastic and shaped to act. as a lens so that the markings may be read easily. Papers may be attached by pressbutton type posts (11, Fig. 5) to flaps (9) on the member 2, or the flaps (23, Fig. 10) may have bent back ends (22) through which pass flexible strips (20) on which the papers are threaded. As shown in Fig. 12, the flaps are extended to form covers 28, and flexible sheet-holding strips 31 are threaded through holes in the cover and the sheets. If the file is to be suspended, the bar 1 is extended beyond the member 2 at both ends and fitted with filling pieces (13, Fig. 6) for engagement with rails (12) or is fitted with a hookshaped filler (27<SP>1</SP>. Fig. 11), at one end only for suspension in an inclined position from a single rail. The members 2 may form the top edges of suspension pockets or may have inturned parts (33. Fig. 15), to receive folded-over edges (35) of pockets (34).
