846,096. Wire tensioners. RELIANCE ROPE ATTACHMENT CO. Ltd. Sept. 9, 1957 [Sept. 11, 1956], No. 27739/56. Class 45. A rope tensioning device comprises a member 17 bearing at one end against an abutment 1 adapted to engage a fixed support, a thrust block 18 bearing against the other end of the member, a nut 11 bearing against the block, and a threaded tube 6 coacting with the nut and carrying a clamp 10 for the rope R. As shown the member 17 is a compression spring but it may be replaced by hydraulic or compressed air means. The threaded tube has an extension 5 extending within a guide tube 4 which has a grease nipple to permit lubrication of the rope running within the tubes. The nut has radial holes for a tommy bar, and a thrust bearing 19 and a seal 20 are interposed between the nut and block. Telescopic parts 23, 24, respectively fixed to the abutment and the block form a casing, a scale mounted on the part 24 affording an indication of rope tension.
