[Also in Group XXV] A pipe clamp for securing earthing cables &c. to the pipe, comprises a U-shaped member 1, Fig. 3, having its limbs 3 of equal length, each having a transversely extending aperture 2 therein, a screw 4 extending through the bridge 5 of the U-shaped member and a flexible strip 13, e.g. of mild steel, tin plate or extruded light alloy, extending round the pipe 14; one end 15 of the strip extends through one of the apertures 2 and between the limb 3 having that aperture, and the pipe, the other end 17 of the strip extending through both apertures 2 to be engaged by the screw 4 for tensioning of the strip. The screw 4 may be provided with a pressure block for bearing against the flexible strip 13 and may be locked in position by a nut thereon. The bridge 5 may be thickened locally by punching out the aperture therein through which the screw 4 passes. Additional U-shaped members may be disposed along the flexible strip 13. In a modification, Fig. 6, one end of a flexible strip is passed through both apertures in the U-shaped member and is then doubled back to be clamped beneath both of the limbs of the latter, an earthing cable 27 being clamped between the double-backed portions 25, 26 of the flexible strip; when the screw 4 has been tightened the cable is passed around the screw to be further clamped by a washer 28 and a nut 29. In a further modification, Fig. 5 (not shown), the flexible strip is passed twice round the body 14.
