Abstract

926,982. Guide rollers for haulage ropes. R. B. BOLTON. Feb. 23, 1960 [Sept. 11, 1959], No. 31134/59. Class 78 (5). A guide roller 10 for a haulage rope (not shown) has a boss 11 at each end which bears spiral helical grooves 25, 26 extending in opposite directions. The grooves cross at a position A (Fig. 4). If the rope slips off the roller, when subsequently under tension, it is drawn up the surface 22 of the respective mounting bracket 19 and into engagement with one or other of the grooves 25, 26. The roller 10 runs on a spindle 15 which is clamped to the brackets 19 by a bolt 20, and a sealing bush 17.
