845,620. Knitting. WILDMAN JACQUARD CO. May 27, 1958 [June 12, 1957], No. 16839/58. Class 74 (2). To permit the production of rib fabric on a multifeeder cylinder and dial interlock machine without rendering one of each pair of adjacent feeders inoperative, the alternate long dial needles and the intermediate long cylinder needles are rendered inoperative and are caused to follow paths 67, 66, respectively. The short needles on the other hand are caused to follow paths 69, 68 in the dial and cylinder cam system through the two knitting stations such that these needles are raised to take yarn at the first feeder Y and retain this yarn and take the yarn at the second feeder Y<SP>1</SP>, whereafter they are caused to knit the two yarns together. The resultant effect is that prior to knitting an interlock fabric in which the two yarns appear on opposite faces of the fabric a rib portion can be produced in which the two yarns are knitted in a plating relationship.
