Abstract

The process for the production of fine threads according to the parent Specification is modified in that a stable dispersion of polymer (which on heating gives the spinning solution) is obtained by dissolving either a high or low pressure polyolefine in the hydrocarbon oil of viscosity from 1 to 6 DEG Engler, with the polyolefine in amount to form a solution of polymer with a concentration not exceeding 2%, cooling to give a stable dispersion and then adding a low pressure polyolefine of molecular weight > 70000 in amount to form a dispersion wherein the total polymer concentration does not exceed 18%. The polyolefine may be obtained from ethylene, propylene, butylene or pentene, and specified oils are mineral oil, gas oil, spindle oil, white oil and paraffin oil.
