Abstract

844,332. Travelling wave tubes. ENGLISH ELECTRIC VALVE CO. Ltd. Dec. 5, 1958 [March 18, 1958], No. 8712/58. Class 39(1). The delay helix 2, is held in position by means of a plurality of insulating support rods 4, 5, 6, which are placed axially symmetrically about the delay helix and are held in place by at least one further strained metal helical spring 8 whose natural internal diameter is less than the diameter of the imaginary cylinder which would have the support rods touching it along its internal generators. Desired attenuation is achieved by coating the rods with a layer of graphite or similar suitable material.
