Abstract
843,675. Rotary compressors. INSTITUT FRANCAIS DU PETROLE, DES CARBURANTS ET LUBRIFIANTS. Dec. 30, 1957 [Dec. 28, 1956], No. 40339/57. Class 110 (2). A water-cooled rotary compressor of the rotary abutment type, Fig. 1, has its inlet conduit A permanently open to the annular working space Q and a rotary abutment r which also serves as a closure valve for the outlet passage S. The rotor R may co-operate with a second abutment and the stator be provided with two inlet ports and two outlet ports to constitute a multi-stage compressor having its equal or different output stages arranged in parallel (see Figs. 3 and 4 respectively (not shown)). In another modification, Fig. 5, the rotor R co-operates with two asymmetrically arranged rotary abutments r1 r2 to define a multi-stage compressor, the different stages being of different capacities to one another and interconnected by a transfer passage K. In a final modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), two devices as described in Fig. 1 are mounted on common shafting to form a compound unit.
